About us
We are the world's first and only company specialising in extensive RNA data analysis of farm animals, and EpiHerd is the platform we built to deliver it. Our technology turns complex gene expression data into practical, farm-specific insights that help dairy farmers improve animal health, increase productivity and make better decisions.
What drives our team is a genuine love for science and an almost unreasonable determination to find answers. Since the very beginning, one question has guided everything we do: what makes animals with similar genes perform so differently? This is what drove us to develop EpiHerd, the world's first commercial platform that translates RNA sequencing and gene expression data into actionable recommendations for dairy farms.
Developed in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, EpiHerd connects biology directly to performance outcomes, including milk yield, milk quality, feed efficiency, fertility and animal health. The result is a layer of biological intelligence that no other tool in the industry currently provides.
Our story
Antler Bio was founded by Maria Jensen and Nathalie Conte, who are scientists. The kind who lose sleep over unanswered questions and genuinely enjoy it. Their obsession started simply enough: why do animals with near-identical genetics perform so differently? It had to be something beyond the DNA itself, something in how genes actually behave in the real world. They decided to find out.
In 2021, EpiHerd was born from a discussion at a farm coffee table, where it was evident that the solutions that were available back then offered no solution. We had put great effort into generating the best genes, but the results were still varying for a reason we could not yet see. At the same time, RNA-testing became more researched, and it started to give us answers to how our surroundings affect us, living beings integrated with our genes. It also gave us answers to why animals with the best possible genes did not perform up to their potential.
EpiHerd doesn't replace the trusted advisors already on your farm. It gives a completely new layer of data to work with. A clear view of what's actually happening at the level of gene expression in your herd, so that every decision you make is grounded in biology, not guesswork. And here's what makes Antler Bio genuinely different: we have no stake in what the data says.

We don't manufacture feed, supplements or any other product. We are still majority-owned by our founders, with no industry investor at our table pushing a particular agenda. We think that matters. Actually, we think it matters a lot.
